Numerical Analysis of Resistance Characteristics of a Novel High-Speed Quadramaran

Abstract This paper utilised computational fluid dynamics (CFD) technology to calculate the resistance of a novel high-speed quadramaran in calm water using Navier‒Stokes (N‒S) equation, analysed total resistance, frictional and residual characteristics this at different length Froude numbers, compared them with results conventional catamaran same displacement. The showed that had significant hump number 0.6, due complexity wave interference among four demihulls, value was about 1.6 times catamaran. Above speed, decreased increase number, until reaching 1.06, when curve became flat, it maximum reduction 40% 1.66 catamaran, where steep. increased gradually growth which basically consistent change trend first rose then reduced rising large adverse interference, 1.7 as changed from favourable, lower than bow stern demihulls were also for their characteristics. small 0.7, above 0.85 2 flat 1.51.
